Book Review – Accidental Lovers by Naomi Jones

I just finished Accidental Lovers by Naomi Jones on Kindle for Android! http://www.amazon.com/kindleforandroid/

http://beautifultroublepublishing.com/xcart/Accidental-Lovers-EBOOK.htm This is a late night post but I needed to share with the world how much I loved this book. Two jilted exes meet at the wedding of their exes. Wow right? This book starts with the drama from page one. First, the hero, Brent is a handsome man who works hard but loves harder. He was so attentive to the heroine the simple things he said made me sigh. Brent was so refreshing as a hero because throughout the book he admitted his mistakes but he went after Ailey with a fierce passion. And the love scenes were so tastefully done I need a hot bath and a glass of wine. The story of these two was that they came to each other out of a pure need to sleep and be held, but they became so much more. I don’t want to give too much away but man…Ailey and Brent are a hell of a sexy pair and all romance junkies like myself should go get this book. Go now…and get some wine ready.

Yes, I did it. My first light BDSM tale.   I fear I haven’t been completely honest with you all.  I like kink. I’m not sure if that was a confession or just a ‘just so you know’ announcement.   Shara Azod LLC knows a little something about kink.  I’m pleased to throw my name into their marvelous Whipped Dreams line.    For those of you who know the imprints works, you know that Whipped Dreams center around BDSM or D/s story lines.   I took it one step further.  This time, the heroine is the Domme.

Below is the blurb and a spicy little excerpt to get you wondering.  Click the link, buy the tale, and warm up your holiday season with a bit a sugar, spice and and a whole lot of kink.

BLURB

Athena Divan had it good; her own company, a premium New York apartment and a secret.   Gerard Bourdain was much the same; his own company, a premium New York apartment, a restless spirit and a secret.  These two had butted heads in the board room, but they were about to find they had a lot more in common when their secrets collide at the Black Tie bondage club.

The only thing is, Athena was Mistress Minerva. She knew who he was, but Gerard was in the dark about her secret identity.   Would she take the opportunity to have a bit of revenge at Gerard’s expense?  Of course.  Yet, could she keep herself in check and not step over the line and jeopardize her identity?
*EXCERPT*

As he stood on the other side of the door, he took a deep breath. This
mistress was supposed to be the best, as the owner kept telling him. A second generation dominatrix. He’d never heard of such a thing. Pushing the heavy
door open, he stepped into the room.
His stomach immediately tightened when his eyes focused on the woman
perched on the throne. She looked like a deity, her shoulders back and her long
legs crossed in a striking pose. Her mouth was pursed, and her burgundy
lipstick looked like a fine wine staining her lips. The black masquerade mask
did little to hide her features. Her high cheekbones stood out in the dim
lighting, but her eyes were the most striking almond color he’d ever seen.
He swallowed hard. She raised her arm and, in a regal movement, turned
her palm upward and curled her fingers forward, beckoning him to her. He
dropped his head and took slow steps toward her. He stopped a mere foot away
from his appointed mistress. For the first time, he was intimidated by a woman.
His mother didn’t intimidate him, and she threw her weight around better than
any man he’d met.
“Well, well, well,” his mistress said in a husky, breathless tone. She
uncrossed her legs and stood. Her heels didn’t make a sound as she walked
toward him across the carpeted floor.
Without pausing, she began to walk around him, looking him up and
down. He didn’t dare move his head to follow her movements, knowing that
would bring him punishment. The leather of her glove felt cool as she laid the
palm of her hand against the small of his back. The simple touch made his cock
stir.
“Mmmm. There is nothing I like more than fresh meat.” She smacked his
ass with an echoing slap that stung his flesh even through the leather pants.
Her palm cupped his ass in a soothing motion, and she began to rub his
stinging cheek as if to soothe the sting. The smell of her hung in the air, and it
was all he could think about as he tried to force himself to breathe in through
his nose and out through his mouth.
“What is your name, slave?”

REVIEW – Elixir of Wife (Dux Ducis Book 1) by Jeanie Johnson and Jaya Leigh

Elixir of Wife - To Buy, Click the Cover

Elixir of Wife – To Buy, Click the Cover

I was smart with this one.  Anything written by the duo of Johnson and Leigh, well, a woman needs to be prepared.  I had my night all planned out, a bottle of Ecco Domani Moscato, 3 chocolates, each picked out specifically by my mate.  After pouring us each a glass, I gave him the look.  You know, the look that says I’m about to read, please don’t breathe in my direction until I’m done sighing to myself and have put away the reading apparatus and glasses.

Let me tell you something about this book here, if you don’t love chocolate by the end of it, see a therapist; a good chocolate therapist.   Not only do they describe some of the most sin-inducing chocolate truffles in this book that made my mouth water, the things Nerva Imperatores does with this chocolate made me almost jealous.  I say almost because my mate likes to read on these things every once in a while and I’m not about to get paddled.

You see, Nerva Imperatores is a genius, a financial whiz, yet his way with chocolate is what has garnered his fame, and the attention of a choco-a-holic  named Sorpresa Venetia.   Now Sorpresa, have you ever met a character that you wonder, is this me, or perhaps a relative of mine?   There is a line in the book that sums it all up about Sopresa and Nerva:  ”Originally, she’d only wanted Nerva for what he could do with cocoa and sugar but now she wanted him for what he could do to her heart: make it damn near beat out of her chest.”

Nerva was convinced he was setting up his Sopresa for someone else.  He’d convinced himself she was the perfect match, just not for him.    However, the way she barged into his life, demanded his chocolate, his time and his ear, he couldn’t help but to fall for her.  Yet, he’d already set in motion a plan that meant  Sopresa wasn’t his.

Jeanie Johnson and Jayha Leigh always make a book worth the time it takes to read it.   The males are always so alpha they make you sweat just reading their names.  The women are strong and fearless and have no problem going for what they want, especially if  what they want is their man.

This book made me want two things:  to find a piece of chocolate that makes me want to do half the things that Nerva did with his chocolate, and to try to patiently wait for the Dux Ducis 2.

I love Autumn!  I love the smell, the sounds of leaves crunching under your feet.  Your eyes become sensitive to all the sensitive hues of orange, yellow and gold…  Which is why I had to give Autumn its own book in the Seasons of Love series.   There was “Disturbing the Yuletide” then “Shaking up the New Year” and now you have “Falling Leaves in Autumn.” Check out the excerpt below and enjoy!

Justine Marshall is in a mood. Not that she doesn’t adore the fact that her best friend Topaz is was marrying the great love of her life; she’s ecstatic, but being alone while trying to plan the wedding to end all weddings has her in a funk and admittedly jealous. In an effort to keep her emotions from spilling into Topaz’s happy day, Justine comes up with one surefire solution: find a bed buddy.

Clark Pinot has been trying to get Justine’s attention for months, which is the only reason he volunteered to go shopping with the guarded woman in the first place. When she comes to him with the ridiculous idea of being her “booty call,” he sees it as the one opportunity to prove he isn’t the Casanova she thinks he is and what he wants is much more than a tumble in the sack. Breaking down Justine’s defenses won’t be easy, but he’s determined to see them fall like the leaves in autumn.

**EXCERPT**The sun was setting, casting a comforting orange glow over the turning leaves. It was my favorite time of year, the transition into autumn, and I found the hues of oranges, yellows, and reds comforting. Taking in a deep breath, letting the partially chilled air fill my lungs, I knew I had to get a grip. What are you doing? You know dang well Clark Pinot is nothing but a rolling stone with an accent. Who’s to say you can’t have a bit of a fling before he leaves? I sighed. Flings weren’t in my nature. Even as I tried to summon up some of my courage to just flirt with the man, I couldn’t even do that. It’s funny how when you are warring with yourself, you can’t pick a side.

“Well that is one way to end a discussion.” His voice made me gasp. It was a rich baritone that vibrated when he laughed, like it was doing now. I had to cross my legs to keep my wayward womanhood under control.

“There was nothing to discuss. You have your opinion, and I’ve got mine. You don’t make it in this world without having to drop the rose-colored glasses sometimes. I’m not jaded on love, I just don’t think it is perfect, and I haven’t found the other half to my imperfection yet, just like you, Clark.”

“I can see that, Justine.” Oh the way he said my name made me want to curl up beside him and purr. Yet, I still couldn’t bring myself to even entertain the idea of making a bed buddy out of Clark. It would be too dangerous.

“So, you want to take some bags with you back to…” His lips touched mine before I even realized he was standing that close to me. It was a gentle, tentative, and explorative kiss that left me breathless. His hand, which was resting slightly on my shoulder, moved down my biceps, down my forearm, and then, just when I thought I couldn’t take any more of his subtle touches, his large, tanned fingers intertwined with mine. It wasn’t the kisses I’d read about and hoped for in my novels, the ones that bruise your lips, but a light kiss, an appetizer with the promise of so much more.

Why Are Free BWWM books Hard to Find

writing

All of this work isn't free

Why Are Free BWWM Books Hard To Find (or How the Internet told on You)…

I love technology.  I’ve been given the title Techy by a select few and here is an example why I love technology, the internet and the right to free speech.   I was checking my WordPress analytic for the search terms people have used to stumble across my blog.  (Savvy, I know, right?)   This one came across my radar today: why are free BWWM books hard to find?   Obviously this was typed in a browser search engine and someone wanted to know why.  I’ll be happy to step up to the plate and answer that question with some bias but with stark honesty.

It depends if you are looking for GOOD free BW/WM books.  Of course the emphasis being on GOOD.  Now, you can go on to Smashwords, Literotica and various other places to find BW/WM stories.  They are all over and you have to ask yourself the question: is it good?  If you want just a ‘story’ there are plenty and they aren’t hard to find.   If you want GOOD, well let me break it down for you why it won’t be free.

We know we are a niche group, and for those of us that band together, we know just how small or large this niche can be while writing.   We know that we are a quiet genre that doesn’t get much exposure except for among ourselves, and what we represent, we want to represent it well.    Let’s say you are getting dressed for the prom, are you going to put on your holed up jeans, a mustard stained t-shirt and flip-flops?   No, you are going to present your best side because it is important to you.   I will only speak for myself, but being ‘good’ in the world of authors these days is hard work.  You have to know your own worth, you have to know your story’s worth and you have to be willing to grind out that manuscript, sit down and write as the muse strikes, not to mention work your job that has nothing to do with writing.  You have to hone your skill, learn vocabulary, research your topic, ferret out facts, learn your characters, get their habits straight, and come up with a story that will compel readers to go beyond page 1.   Not only do you have to know what you are talking about, you also have to make time to write.  I’m  a short story author, and if I could have a nickel every time I heard a story was too short, well, I wouldn’t have to work so much overtime some days to cover my bills.   So not only do we have to make time to write, we have to pour out our character’s heart, our heart and our story into something that won’t get slandered as ‘too short’.  Try writing 9,000 words that string together beautifully and you will see it ain’t a pretty picture or process.  Now, do you expect a free work to be error free and without some grammatical mistakes? No, so we use proofers and beta-readers.  They don’t work for free either.

So after our hard work. our toiling, back-spacing and rewriting until we find a better word for ‘said’, why would we throw it up for free?  We all go to work every day, but wouldn’t one get mad if they asked you to work for free?  I love my job, but seriously, free?    Some of us, myself included, have written plenty of free stories.  We felt like we owed something to our fans, we felt like we needed to ‘give back’.  Guess how we were repaid: plagiarism.  Plagiarism and having our free work lampooned for various reasons.  A free work,  shared out of love for the genre and knowing there isn’t much out there to get your hands on, gets plagiarized,   and some other is making money off of what you put out there in love.   That would be one reason that some of us don’t post free reads anymore.  We find our work repackaged and our name replaced with someone who didn’t write not once sentence in it.   Can you believe that?

Good BW/WM is so hard to come by, true.  It is hard to come by, and it is harder  to please the readers of BW/WM or any other interracial combination you can think because we are picky.  We want a GOOD read.   If you want a GOOD steak, do you really expect someone to be on the street corner giving away 16 oz porterhouse steaks for free?  No you go to a steak house and you pay for what you want.  The same thing with books.    You pay for what you want.

As much as I would love to live a life of leisure and spend the day writing, I can’t.  I’ve got obligations, a mate, a job, a car to pay for… none of which are free.  We’ve been nice, we’ve tried the ‘free’ route and got screwed.

So to the searcher out there looking for free bwwm, there are plenty, but if you want quality, ante up and just buy what you crave.

pLEASE WELCOME TO MY BLOG THE FABULOUS mS. lENISE LEE!  *APPLAUSE*

Ms. Lee has stopped by to share with us a tantalizing tidbit of her book, Simone: Second Chances.

Simone: Second Chances by Lenise Lee

How often does a second opportunity to win over our heart’s desire come long?  In real life, probably not as often as it should or as frequently as we hope for.  In Simone: Second Chances, I have granted such a wish to my leading lady and the man who has secretly loved her for quite a while.

This new tale from my wandering thoughts also gives me a chance to pursue the same. Before this story, it had been far too long since I desired to become wrapped up with love and all of its curiosities and rewards.  When my attention turned  to my second go-round with Simone, there was finally a spark to return to the sweet and spicy side of romance.  While drafting this piece, I had to learn to fall in love all over again with the wonderful possibilities and the tender affections that true love can offer.

As always, thank you for your time and your support, Dear Reader.  True love and happiness to you all..always..LL ♥♥

So Amusing – Midnight Muse by R.W. Shannon (A Review)

Going on a trip to Greece never seemed so appealing until now!  In Midnight Muse, R.W. Shannon gets you wrapped up in a tale of how a terrible first meeting can turn into something more.

Grace Bower was on a working vacation to the beautiful Greece isle of Rhodes.  She rented a cottage from whom she thought would be a short and balding man.  The man who opened the door was a one-eighty from what she assumed.

No, the man who opened the door was a six-foot three, blue-eyed mix of Greek and Italian.  Can you say delicious?  (If you can’t I sure can). Oh, you didn’t say it yet? Get this, his name is Evander Vicenti.  Now, can you say double delicious?  With a name like that, how could this man be anything but FinE with a capital F and E.   Yep, F’in’E… he’s hot and can speak four languages.  I so want one of these!

After getting off on the wrong foot, these two must battle past their differences to even be in the same room with each other.

R.W. spins such a delightful tale.  The  little nuances that are so real life with such things like: Grace says ”So what’s my ringtone” and a scene about talking on the phone while going to the bathroom, you have to read this book for a good laugh, a nice sigh and not to mention hot and heavy making love sessions that will leave your glasses steamed. And well, I almost teared up a little and I’m not telling why but a hint: it was a photo (I’m a sap).

Get this book, seriously, go now…why are you still here? Click the book below to go and get it.  Off you go!

Zoe was content with her life as the king’s gardener. She had a home and the finest garden in the galaxy. What more could a girl want?

Well, there was the king’s son, Prince Abbas. He was Zoe’s greatest wet dream come true. For five years, she’d fantasized about him from afar, but never dared to approach him. Besides, he was too… royal for her liking.

When the king arranges a marriage for Abbas, Zoe’s life is changed forever. Will she be content to forever lust after the prince, or will she grab what she wants and take it?

Or will he make that decision for her…

Paxton Wainwright never planned on coming home to Essex, Connecticut, especially after fifteen years of being free of the title of the `mayor’s son’. The small town held nothing but dark memories and an unrequited need for one female, Delilah Gibbs.

Imagine his surprise when he returned home to see none other than Delilah in his father’s bedroom, acting as his physical therapist.   Paxton still felt the same flash of need as he did all those years ago.

The question is, can he make Delilah feel it too?

Skylar Moore had been looking for a new, exciting job. Taking a position as a civilian contractor in the middle of a war zone was probably a tad extreme, but it was the best decision she had ever made.

How could she complain when she had not one, but two of the sexiest body guards/escorts on the face of the earth. Majors Ashe Marshall and Shannon O’Shea were the finest damn Marines in the entire Corps. It was hard to pretend she wasn’t interested in more than an escort to local Afghan villages. The problem was which one did she like the most? There was no way she could choose.

Luckily she didn’t have to…

Topaz Aura Sinclair, aka DJ Bluefire, has been feeling a little lonely this holiday season—the first one she’s spending without her family. She’s even taken on extra gigs just to stay active during the season. At one of her assignments, she meets Sebastian Rosser, an ex-military officer turned caterer. Sparks fly immediately… But when one of Topaz’s gigs turns dangerous, will she and Sebastian find a way to keep their holiday bright?

**EXCERPT**

Topaz laughed and looked at Sebastian. She finally took the moment to really study the man who was before her. He looked delicious and dark in his black slacks and turtleneck. His toned arms seemed about to split the shirt at the seams. The deep green of his eyes gave him a dangerous air and made Topaz shudder. Then she remembered the way he’d gotten her out of the brawling fiasco at the Den.

“What did you do before you became a chef, Sebastian?” He couldn’t possibly have been just a caterer all his life, not with those moves.

“I was in the British Army. I enlisted young, and applied for my discharge about three years ago.”

“I kinda figured you were military. You’re too sharp.”

Sebastian lifted his eyebrow at her. She giggled and took another sip.

“What I mean is that you were cool under pressure. You didn’t seem to mind I was poking around in the kitchen when we met. Most caterers I know aren’t like that—they’re territorial.”
“Oh, I’m territorial, but not about food,” Sebastian countered, his tone serious.
“I see. So what brings you to the States?” Topaz knew the hour was late, but she didn’t want to let him go just yet. It was better than being in her small apartment, lonely and cold. Christmas was merely a week away, and she didn’t want to think about spending it alone.

“Opportunity and a change of pace. Working with The Det, I spent most of my time in Northern Ireland, and London no longer seemed like home after my parents died, so the States seemed logical.”

Topaz could relate to what Sebastian was feeling. She knew what it was like to feel out of place. “The ‘Det.’ What is that?” Topaz asked.

“It’s a special recon unit. We’re plainclothes operatives, and that’s all I’m telling you,” Sebastian said, his lips playing around with the idea of a smile.
“Oh, it’s like that?” Topaz said, lifting her own eyebrow and staring at him. Sebastian gave a slight nod, and this time he actually did smile.

Topaz gasped at the smile that transformed his face. It seemed to make the hard lines around his mouth disappear, and he looked so human. She felt a lump in her throat, and her words were lost. Sebastian Rosser was one fine man when he smiled.

* * *

Sebastian felt the sides of his face ache as he broke into a grin. He was sure he had smiled before he entered the military, but he’d never remembered it feeling so good. He was sure it was because of the company of one Topaz Sinclair.

From his days in the military, Sebastian had used his contacts to dig up important information on Topaz. Even with the little information he could find, he found that she soothed the restlessness he had been plagued with most of his life. He’d always been known as the one to take the first shot, the one to take the lead. With her, he didn’t want to jump in too fast, but he felt like he was on a roller coaster of emotions. “So tell me about you.” Sebastian said, knowing her soothing voice would calm the restlessness he was feeling again.

“What do you want to know?” Topaz asked, taking another sip of her coffee.

“Everything. Every last detail.” Sebastian didn’t mince words, but he didn’t think she would mind.
“Well, let’s see. I’m an only child. My mom and dad had me late in life, so they didn’t get the chance to have other children. They passed away earlier this year.”

Sebastian nodded and again grabbed her hands. He was amazed at how small they seemed in his own. His thumbs circled over her palms, mindlessly tracing figure-eights on her warm skin. He looked at her long fingers, nails without polish, the simple silver thumb ring the only jewelry she wore. She was simplicity personified, and he wanted to know everything about her.

“I’m sorry. This time of year must be rough for you.” Sebastian gave his sympathy, but he couldn’t help but wonder if she would mind spending the holiday with him.

“Yeah, that’s why I took on so many extra gigs. I needed to be moving, doing something, anything.”

“So, what are your plans for the holiday then? More shows? Your calendar seemed pretty open.”

Topaz looked at him, and Sebastian could see the scrutiny. He braced himself for the question.
“Was tonight the only night you came looking for me, Sebastian?”
“No. I think I’ve been looking for you all my life.”
